First, I’d like to state that I am a fancier or SPORT, SHOW, and UTILITY dog breeds and specifically the AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER. In my studies, I have researched some of the oldest possible genetic contributions to the APBT and the development of the dogs that became PHENOTYPICALLY and TEMPERAMENTALLY distinct lineages and breeds of BULL AND TERRIER crosses. The BULLDOG being a distinct TYPE of dog as well as the TERRIER also being a very distinct and established TYPE of dog. These two types were kept in EUROPE with long histories of hunting, working, and security programs for their dogs as well as a serious tradition of hunting as well as keeping animals for game and sporting purposes. SIGHTLER’S GT GWEEDA MCNASTY

I acquired GWEEDA from MONA WATTS of TEXAS. Thus far, MONA WATTS has been the main contributor to MADDOGG KENNELS program. MONA in my personal opinion is a very honest, humble, and nice woman with a passion for everything the APBT is supposed to be as a biological machine. She is one of those HOT ROD GENERATION breeders and I can she that she sees into dogs and can build dogs amazingly as that pertains to show quality specimen. She is beyond respected and deservingly praised in the SHOW AND GO “SPORT” A.P.B.T. dog. In my experience I’ve seen all kinds of dogs and breeders, the breeders tend to be just as interesting as the product. I watch closely to see what it is that drives a breeder.. and if I agree with it, I haver no problem saying so.

I purchased GWEEDA after first purchasing SKULLY from her. GWEEDA is a daughter of WATTS/GREYS GWEEDO bred to one of his daughters CH WATTS SAHARA. Also, GWEEDO himself is a 12X ADBA GRCH. Behind him is EASY E, ZORRO, NOBLE JOHN, and LUCY BITER. After a nice drive from Oklahoma into Texas and picking up GWEEDA, I saw quickly that she’s a little ball of fire. After a few months with GWEEDA I had a better understanding of the people behind her. When that happens, it’s just one of the affirmative blessings that come with owning any truly PUREBRED animal. It is the passing of a torch to another fancier who hopefully has the best intentions and appreciation for those people and their productions and dedication to preservation before taking that vision in a direction they see as valuable, themselves.

GWEEDA is the first female I’ve purchased from MONA, however, GWEEDA MCNASTY also is a very specific type of animal herself. Even within the APBT breed, I mean the real ADBA/UKC APBT, she has a TYPE. A profile that includes specifics. Those specificities locked in because of very selective line breeding and inbreeding. Also though, those specificities on top of a STANDARD that then defines a LINE, a TYPE, and ultimately a BREED. It usually takes years for any fancier of anything deserving of any award to “see into” things in a way that makes what they do an “art form”. Well, GWEEDA is the product of a group of people.. a “circle of friends”, and all of the dogs behind her are the products of similar circles. Part of what MADDOGGKENNELS.COM aims to achieve is to PRESERVE the GENETIC TRAITS and characteristics of very specific APBT STRAINS, FAMILIES, and BLOODLINES while also attentively focusing on improving the stock I own, handle, and breed personally.

So what is so specific about SIGHTLERS GWEEDA MCNASTY? What are some of those “specificities” I was referencing earlier? Well, let’s start with a few names behind her.. Who is NOBLE JOHN? and who is LUCY BITER? Also, Why is EASY E important? This is the start of my own questions as that pertained to 12X ADBA GRCH WATTS GWEEDO. GWEEDO obviously is a specimen as that pertains to ADBA APBTs. The ADBA itself is indeed the home of the SPORTING, GAME and SHOW PIT BULL in the United States of America. Meaning, when it comes to dogs that “do something” the UKC is obsolete. They focus purely on PAGEANTRY. The ADBA focuses on ABILITY just as much as a pretty coat, a nice build, and a specific MAKE/MODEL. So yes, ADBA SHOW DOGS are usually very nice to look at.. however, they come from lines that differentiate the milk cow, from the beef cow, and the beef cow from the bucking bull. All of those animals can win awards for being a specimen, however, what are those awards about? Do you expect a beef cow to produce award winning milk?..

Since I was a young chap I can remember always loving dogs. I mean a genuine love. Because my upbringing was rough I could always relate to a dog for some reason. They didn’t really tell you things. They showed you. That was something I always admired as well as the DIVERSITY of breeds of dogs. The pedigree breeds especially were fascinating to me. I suppose it’s either a hood thing or cliche to say I started admiring and appreciating PIT BULLS early on.. I’d not really had any bad experiences with them aside from one that belonged to a police officer in ANDREWS, SOUTH CAROLINA when I learned not to tease anyones pitbull chained to its doghouse everyday from a school bus window ever again.. lol. That dog could have mauled me down. It didn’t. It only nipped my rear once.. however, I also remember that police officer who was the father of one of my friends killing that dog for that one. I wasn’t hurt but for that incident that dog lost its life. That was in the early very late 80’s or early 90’s. Anyhow, as I grew up I always was most fascinated by dogs and it was the APBT in particular that I never forgot. Maybe it was that nip to the ass cheek and that dog being punished after knowing I teased it everyday and with all the other kids acted like it was funny. From around that time forward though, I have studied and then kept, fed, placed, and sold and interacted with particularly one breed. THE AMERICAN PITBULL TERRIER. THAT’S IT. I had a run with the AMERICAN BULLY mostly before the ABKC and all of the EXOTIC mutations. However, even before then I was studying game bred APBT dogs. That was back in those GAMEDOG.COM days and when YAHOO! GEOCITIES still existed. I spent hours upon hours reading about HISTORICAL COMBAT DOGS. As I was birthed to this body in the 1980’s I knew that AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIERS, MARTIAL ARTS, and HIP-HOP music were going to be very interesting o me.. and since those ASIAN/PACIFIC and SE ASIAN wars there was another kind of thing happening in the APBT breed altogether. The dogs were being turbocharged. They were also becoming type specific within regions and generations that let to mutations in the dogs that can be tuned to produce animals that were agile as big cats.. I mean like panthers and jaguars. In fact, these animals could indeed hunt and kill big cats.. and some do. I’ve learned though that there is a reason these dogs are everything they become. Also, I see clearly that these dogs can do ANYTHING they are BRED to do. They can be schooled to do almost anything.. and there are APBTS that are not right in the head for the same reason human beings are also not so stable psychologically. However, even those dogs can serve a purpose.. depending on what it required, I’d say. -D.S.S.
